My brother in law kicks and shakes his head in his sleep?

my sister and her husband are in town and i noticed he does strange things in his sleep. when he is sleeping on his back he raises his leg up and slams it on the bed over and over again AND he shakes his head back and forth. both of them are rhythmic. my sister says he does it all the time.
