When is asking a question chatting?

I wanted to know if i was normal to start books and then not finish them. My question was deleted and, having got no sense from the Customer Care Team, asked the Y! Answers community. The consensus seems to be that I was chatting. Aren't most of the questions on here chatting? I can't follow this. I wanted to know how many people could answer that they did this as well as me, I wanted to see the sort of books they'd start and not finish, fiction/non-fiction etc and read what their reasons were. Can anyone explain why I shouldn't have asked that question? There are innumerable other questions on here that are not seeking factual replies so why is my question so bad?
