Is melanoma at all related to genetics?

A friend of mine who had melanoma yet overcame it recently went to a checkup and had some moles removed to be checked again for melanoma. We talked about this and my friend claims that any children that she has will have a 50% chance of getting melanoma. Is this true?...doctors, hereditary/genetic experts, anyone with experience in this
